THE PHILANTHROPIC FOCUS OF THE KOHN CHARITABLE TRUST IS (A) TO PROMOTE THE WELL-BEING OF CHILDREN WHO ARE UNDERPRIVILEGED AND UNDERREPRESENTED, THROUGH COLLABORATIVE EDUCATIONAL AND HEALTH INITIATIVES AND PROGRAMS THAT PROMOTE FUTURE SELF-SUFFICIENCY; (B) TO ASSIST THOSE WHO HAVE LITTLE OR NO VOICE IN SOCIETY THROUGH EMPOWERMENT AND REPRESENTATION; (C) TO AID THOSE THAT IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF INTELLECTUALLY DISABLED INDIVIDUALS AND TO AID THEIR EMPOWERMENT; AND (D) TO USE SCIENCE TO IMPROVE HUMAN HEALTH BY ADVANCING NEW DISCOVERY AND HEALTH OUTCOME INITIATIVES.CONSISTENT WITH THE MISSION OF THE KOHN CHARITABLE TRUST WE HAVE ESTABLISHED AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN THE HERMANN AND AMALIE KOHN PROFESSORSHIP OF SOCIAL JUSTICE AND SOCIAL POLICY AT THE GERALD R. FORD SCHOOL OF PUBLIC POLICY. THIS POSITION WILL ASSIST THE FORD SCHOOL IN BEING A NATIONAL LEADER IN SOCIAL JUSTICE.
