Grants to New York, Connecticut, and Virginia nonprofit organizations in eligible areas for teen parenting and independent living programs for individuals with mental illness. Teen parenthood programs should focus on the development of parenting skills of young parents. Eligible areas include New York City and Westchester, New York, Southwestern Connecticut, and Charlottesville, Virginia.

Term of Contract:

Grant recipients are eligible to receive funding for a single program for up to three consecutive years. However, a new application for funding is required each year.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Organizations must be publicly-supported charitable organizations and thus, not private foundations within the meaning of Section 509 of the Code.

Eligible organizations must agree not to expend any grant funds in such a way as to constitute a taxable expenditure as described in Section 4945 of the Code, including but not limited to the carrying on propaganda (i.e. lobbying) or otherwise attempting to influence legislation, or for any purpose other than one specified in Section 170(c)(2)(B) of the Code.

Grants are not made to individuals and they are not made for capital or annual campaigns, endowments, loans, conferences, or travel.

Pre-Application Information:

Applications must be submitted online or postmarked for delivery to The Dammann Fund offices no later than June 30. Final decisions are made in the fall and checks are mailed to successful applicants no later than December 1. During the application review process, a site visit may be requested by one or more Members or Directors of The Dammann Fund.
