Request a Grant Writer

Grants of up to $5,000 and grants of up to $10,000 to Virginia small businesses in eligible locations for Coronavirus (COVID-19) relief activities. Funding is intended to assist local businesses that have incurred business interruptions as a result of the closures caused by the Coronavirus health crises. Priority is given to tourism, hospitality, restaurant, retail, and service-related businesses. Funds may be used for adaptive resiliency efforts or operating expenses. Businesses must be located in the City of Charlottesville.

A limited amount of grants will be awarded to non-profit organizations, whose primary focus is connected to hospitality, tourism, or supporting economic development/business causes.

$825,000

Estimated Size of Grant:

- Grants of $5,000 for businesses with less than 10 full-time employees.
- Grants of $10,000 for businesses with more than 10 but fewer than 50 full-time employees.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

All City-based, small businesses are eligible to apply for grant funds.

Previous recipients of the first round of Small Business Relief Grant funds are ineligible. If you applied previously in July and were not awarded a grant you do not need to reapply - your application will automatically be considered for funding.

Pre-Application Information:

Online application process – Monday, October 19th at 9:00am – Friday, October 23rd at 3:00pm
Grant funds issued seven to ten business days from notification.
