Description:

Request a Grant Writer

Grants to USA and territories researchers from IHEs, organizations, government agencies, and agribusinesses in eligible states for agricultural education and research projects. Applicants must submit a preliminary application prior to submitting a full proposal. Proposals are accepted from applicants in the Southern region: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Southern SARE is requesting pre-proposals for either Systems Research Projects or for Education Projects and Activities that address issues of sustainable agriculture of current and potential importance to the region and the nation. Proposed projects must focus on Southern SARE’s program objectives in developing sustainable agriculture systems or moving existing farming systems toward sustainability.

SSARE offers two grant programs:

  • Research Grants are competitive research grants for teams of interdisciplinary researchers that encourage a systems approach in sustainable agriculture. Research grants are research-based with an educational/outreach component to extend the project findings to the public.
  • Education Grants accommodate organizations, institutions and individuals who are interested in education-based projects, rather than research-driven projects. Education Grants strictly fund education and outreach activities related to sustainable agriculture whose outcomes are intended to benefit farmers and farming communities. There is no research involved in these grant projects.

For eligible project areas, see https://southern.sare.org/wp-content/uploads/2022-RE-Call-for-Preproposals.pdf#page=5.
