Grants of up to $3,000 to Virginia businesses and organizations in eligible locations to promote inbound tourism. Funding is intended to reinvigorate the local travel industry in the wake of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Grants may be used for marketing efforts that attract visitors to the City of Waynesboro.

The city is hopeful that fiscal year 2023 will be a strong year for the tourism industry, after more than two years of challenges brought on by the pandemic. The goal of the 2022-2023 BOOST Program is to support new marketing efforts for projects and events aimed at attracting tourists from more than 50 miles away from Waynesboro. Grants may be used for marketing activities that promote one-time events or a series of events.

Only pre-approved marketing activities will be considered for reimbursement unless otherwise discussed between the event organizer and Waynesboro Tourism staff at the time of the application.  Pre-approved marketing activities include:

    • Custom Digital and Print Marketing Packages from Blue Ridge Outdoors
    • Social Media Marketing (as long as the audience is more than 50 miles away)
    • Print and digital advertising with Virginia Living
    • Print and digital advertising with Northern Virginia Magazine
    • Graphic design and printing services for promotional rack cards, brochures, and banners.
